About

I’m a Master Recycler and eco-volunteer here to share my passion for sustainability, green living and simplicity.

My name is Lane’ and I’m the creator of The Living Green Solution.  I created this blog because I saw a need to formalize the advice I was sharing with friends and family about “green living” including habits and routines that are better for your health, the health of those around you and the planet.

I became personally (and formally) involved with sustainability and green living in the Spring of 2008 after moving back to the Pacific Northwest from Phoenix, Arizona.  I felt that there was something more I could be doing besides curbside recycling so I sought out ways to become educated and involved in my community.  Having been raised in rural Alaska, I really missed the simplicity of life including knowing where my food came from.  Everything was so confusing though… Organic food?  Toxic free living?  My head was spinning, I didn’t know where to start!

In the Fall of 2008, I graduated from the Master Recyclers 8-week extensive training program.  I’ve completed several other classes such as Oregon Environmental Council’sEco-Healthy Ambassador Home” training, the former Oregon Center for Environmental Health’s “Eco-Safe Home” training, and the Center for Earth Leadership’s “Agent of Change” class.

You can read more about my sustainability journey, the simpler things in life, and what it was like living without running water.  Learn how we cut our water bill in half, see how I’m planning a green wedding, and take a peek at how I do my grocery shopping, the eco-way.
